During his sophomore year of high school in Eagle Mountain, Utah, Mason Rupper broke his collarbone, effectively ending his football prospects. He got into music the following year and found he had a knack for creating beats layered with dark pop melodies and a confessional rapping/singing style. Early songs "Athens" and "Princeville Drive" helped build an online fan base, but it was the gloomy grooves of "Psycho!," recorded during his senior year, that led to viral fame. Following the track's 2019 indie breakout, Rupper signed with RCA, which included both "Psycho!" and the similarly popular "Hate Me!" on his 2020 EP, How to Kill a Rockstar. MASN returned a year later with the downcast, dreamy-sounding "2 Times." ~ Timothy Monger, Rovi
