Charlie Alexander
Biography
This Charlie Alexander played both bass and guitar, as well as yelling at the top of his lungs, on several records by the punk rock band The Dickies, among others. He is not the same Charlie Alexander that played piano with Louis Armstrong--if so, the music of The Dickies would have been called "senior citizen" rather than "punk." Which might actually not be so far off course once it is taken into account that The Dickies are often described as the oldest surviving punk band in the genre's history. Alexander is of course not one of the original members of the group, none of whom used their real name. Following this gimmick when he began working with the group in the mid '90s might have been a good idea for Alexander, if only to avoid complication with other people named Charlie Alexander. For example, he is also not the man known as Prince Charles Alexander, mixer and engineer on many rap recordings. ~ Eugene Chadbourne, Rovi
