Born in Nebraska and raised in Fredericksburg, Virginia, Donehey taught himself guitar in his early teens while recovering from a near-fatal car crash. Having honed his guitar chops, he began writing songs, which eventually led him to form Tenth Avenue North. Taking their name from a road in Palm Beach County, the Florida-based outfit would go on to become one of contemporary Christian music's biggest success stories. Debuting in 2003 with the independently released and aptly named Don't Look Back, the band maintained a long and lauded career before electing to go their separate ways in 2020. The year prior saw Donehey publish his first book, Finding God's Life for My Will: His Presence Is the Plan. During that time, he also launched the podcast Chasing the Beauty and began writing and recording his debut solo album. The resulting Flourish was released the following year. ~ James Christopher Monger, Rovi
