Badings began his career as an engineer, but turned to music and studied composition with Pijper. He taught at Rotterdam Conservatory and served as director and professor at Amsterdam Lyceum, Hague Conservatory and the Musikhochschule in Stuttgart. He composed for electronic instruments as well as for traditional genres. His work is polytonal and he experimented with non-diatonic scales. He wrote a sonata for two violins that is based on a 31-note scale and a ballet (Genesis) for 5-tone generators. ~ Lynn Vought, Rovi
