Biography
Jazz guitarist Justin Haynes began appearing in a number of varied collaborations during the '90s. The Toronto-based musician has most often worked with Tena Palmer (of the group Chelsea Bridge) and with trumpeter Kevin Turcotte. Haynes and Palmer made a duo recording entitled Not Drowning...Waving (1996), and Haynes is a member of at least two projects that include Turcotte: the Jean Martin Trio and Andrew Downing's Attention Span. Haynes studied with Gary Peacock in N.Y.C. and Ralph Towner in Seattle before recording original works in collaboration with such artists as Andy Stochansky, Rebecca Campbell, Hugh Marsh, and Icelandic musicians Hilmar Jensson and Petur Gretarsson. In addition to his solo album, Show, Haynes performs on another release on the Page Music label, Get Together Weather (1999) by the Jean Martin Trio. Haynes played numerous Canadian jazz festivals in 1999 and 2000 in support of this album. ~ Joslyn Layne, Rovi
