Joaquim Antônio Barroso Neto

Biography
Barroso Neto studied piano at an early age and received his higher education at the then Instituto Nacional de Música. He later took a position there as professor of piano and became one of Brazil's most distinguished piano teachers. In the early '20s he became the director of the Sociedade de Cultura Musical. His interest in choral music resulted in his founding of the Barroso Neto Choir in 1936. His compositions are romantic in style and of a virtuoso difficulty. He wrote only piano music, solo songs and choral works, among which are several educational piano pieces.
