Biography
Led by Phish drummer Jon Fishman, the eclectic Pork Tornado offers a loose and fun mix of jazz, blues, and funk. All hailing from Burlington, VT, the band consists of several notable musicians from the area that all share a common love of performance. Saxophonist Joe Moore was an early addition to the project with his booming performances and energetic style. Guitarist Dan Archer owns the studio that Phish recorded Lawn Boy at, and has supported the band heavily since. Bassist Aaron Hersey and keyboardist Phil Abair round out the lineup, which came together in 1997 after they expressed an interest to jam with one another. Consisting of some of the best local musicians Vermont had to offer, they played gigs whenever possible, often consisting of cover songs that went from Toots the Maytals to James Brown to Frank Zappa. By 2002, since Phish was on hiatus, Pork Tornado finally recorded and released their eponymous debut album. ~ Bradley Torreano, Rovi
