Evelyn Tubb

Biography
English singer Evelyn Tubb studied at the Guildhall School of Music in London. She later joined the Consort of Musicke with which she has made dozens of recordings and appeared in several television presentations. She is also a frequent collaborator with guitarist and lutenist Michael Fields. Tubb has performed oratorio, opera, and music-theater repertoire that runs the gamut from Hildegard von Bingen to Peter Maxwell Davies. She created the title role in John Eccles' Semele (1707) for the Mayfield Chamber Opera. She has taught worldwide, including at the Scola Cantorum Basiliensis and the Dartington International Summer School.
She is noted for her performances which strive for drama and presence as well as historical accuracy. She credits her interest in all kinds of music, not just classical, and in dance and even T'ai chi with helping her make her performances true characterizations and not just well-sung music., Rovi
