Born Lee Ji-Hoon on November 22, 1996 in the city of Busan, he took on the stage name Woozi when he began his professional music career in 2015. After putting together the Pledis Entertainment company, he became a member of the large boy band Seventeen. Previously part of a television show called The Seventeen Project, Seventeen made their debut in 2015. In addition to singing and dancing, Woozi and bandmate Bumzu became the group's primary producers. As a songwriter, he was responsible for much of Seventeen's material and in 2016 branched out to write for other artists including Korean-American singer Ailee and girl group I.O.I.
Woozi's first foray into solo work came in 2019 when he contributed the song "Miracle" to the television series The Tale of Nokdu. Returning to work with Seventeen, he was heavily involved with their 2021 EP Attacca and became the youngest-ever recipient of the Best Producer Award at the Asia Artist Awards. At the beginning of 2022, he released his first official solo single, "Ruby," from the mixtape of the same name. ~ Timothy Monger, Rovi
