The Notations
from Chicago, IL
Biography
Chicago soul group the Notations recorded for Twinight and Curtom subsidiary Gemigo in the 1970s. They peaked with the Top 30 R&B singles "I'm Still Here" and "It Only Hurts for a Little While," a pair of heartache tunes. The lineup included Clifford Curry, LaSalle Matthews, Bobby Thomas, and Jimmy Stroud. Walter Jones replaced Stroud in 1973, then departed in 1976, but appeared on the group's self-titled Gemigo album released that year. The Notations continued to record and perform on an infrequent basis. Their early output was anthologized on the Numero label releases Twinight's Lunar Rotation (2007) and Still Here: 1967-1973 (2015). ~ Ron Wynn, Rovi
