Biography
Joyce DiCamillo is a swinging yet lyrical and melodic pianist who has been active on the East Coast jazz scene since the 1970s. DiCamillo was born and raised in Stamford, CT near New York, and she has lived in Southern Connecticut most of her life. In 1981, she formed the Joyce DiCamillo Trio with bassist Rick Petrone and drummer Joe Corsello--a threesome was still together in the late 1990s. Though her trio performed frequently in the 1980s, it wasn't until the 1990s that it recorded any albums. DiCamillo's first album as a leader, A Touch of Jazz, was recorded in 1994, followed by 1996's Freelancin' (which united her trio with tenor saxman Houston Person), 1998's Moment to Moment and 1999's Love Letters. The mid-1990s found DiCamillo doing some work outside of the jazz field and backing Donna Summer on a tour of the U.S. and Latin America. ~ Alex Henderson, Rovi
