Tony Watts
Biography
In the world of reissue producers in England during the 1970s, Tony Watts was a breath of fresh air. An inventive, clever, thoughtful producer at Decca Records, he was responsible for the first decent reissues of the Rolling Stones' library, most notably Rolled Gold, which was roughly the U.K. equivalent to Hot Rocks and More Hot Rocks before the latter were available in England. In the decades since, he's worked mostly in vintage jazz and pop music, from the 1920s through the 1950s, as well as in classical, in operetta and other light-classical areas, and has been just as effective dealing with those categories of music. His name on a CD is an indicator of quality, like Colin Miles or Bill Inglot. ~ Bruce Eder, Rovi
