Biography
Bjarki is an Icelandic techno producer whose tracks range from straightforward bangers to more introspective ambient techno cuts, with plenty of excursions into old-school breakbeat-heavy rave and IDM sounds. Born Bjarki Runar Sigurdarson in Reykjavik in 1990, he first surfaced under the name Kid Mistik near the end of the 2000s. Russian house DJ/producer Nina Kraviz became a fan of Bjarki's tracks, and began releasing them on her Trip label in 2014. Following several compilation appearances, Bjarki's first proper release was the 2015 12" Arthur and Intergalactic Whales, which included the simple yet effective "I Wanna Go Bang," one of the year's biggest club hits. The following year, Bjarki mined his extensive backlog of unreleased material with three LPs for Trip. The debut full-length ? appeared in June, with Lefhanded Fuqs and Æ following shortly afterwards. ~ Paul Simpson, Rovi
