Biography
Get the Hell Out of the Way of the Volcano is the project of Olympia, WA, ukulele player Khaela Maricich. You wouldn't know that from the 2001 CD, Look for It in the Sky It Will Always Be There, on the small Knw-Yr-Own label, which has no songwriting or musician credits. The album is basic lo-fi-but-low-key indie pop with a folk, rather than rock, bent. The production is extremely minimal, in the manner of D.I.Y. cassette releases, on whimsical folk-pop songs with a child-like observational feel, delivered by high, au naturel female vocals. After Maricich released this album, she changed the name of her project to the Blow. ~ Richie Unterberger, Rovi
