Biography
Allman and Woman was the one-shot musical duo of Gregg Allman (b. December 8, 1947, Nashville) and Cher (born Cherilyn LaPierre, May 20, 1946, El Centro, CA). Cher had first attracted attention in a duo with her husband Sonny Bono in the '60s and '70s. Allman had been a member of the Allman Brothers Band, one of the most successful rock groups in the U.S. in the early '70s. Cher divorced Bono on June 27, 1975, and married Allman on June 30, 1975. They separated on July 5, and Cher filed for divorce, but they were reconciled. Their son, Elijah Blue Allman, was born September 20, 1976. Their only album, Two the Hard Way, credited to Allman and Woman, was released in 1977. They were divorced on January 16, 1979, by which time Allman had returned to the Allman Brothers Band and Cher had resumed her solo career. ~ William Ruhlmann, Rovi
