Born in Barcelona, Soler moved with his parents to Japan at age ten and soon started taking piano lessons. The family moved back to Barcelona when he was 17, and Álvaro started a pop group called Urban Lights with his brother and a few friends. The band appeared on the reality show ¡Tú Sí Que Vales! in 2013 and placed in the final eight contestants, but Soler later decided to leave.
After a move to Berlin, his 2015 single "El Mismo Sol" became a surprise hit in Italy and Switzerland; a version featuring additional vocals in Spanish and English by Jennifer Lopez helped it chart in the U.S. and U.K. as well. In 2016, Soler released his debut full-length effort, Eterno Agosto, a number one hit in Italy and Switzerland. One of the album's singles, "Sofia," topped the charts in four European countries. He scored another European hit with March 2018's "La Cintura," the first single from his second album, Mar de Colores, which arrived later that year. It likewise charted across Europe, including a Top Ten appearance in Spain.
Another gold-selling record, "Magia," appeared in early 2021. It was taken from his third long-player, also called Magia, which followed in July 2021. ~ TiVo Staff, Rovi
