Biography
Mike Dehnert is a highly prolific techno producer and DJ from Berlin who runs the Fachwerk label. His work, which ranges from minimal techno to wildly blown-out dub-techno, is raw and experimental while remaining energetic and club-ready. Dehnert initially produced fast, pumped-up techno as Mumu Boy during the early 2000s. He established Fachwerk in 2007, making a mission statement of sorts with the digital full-length Maximal. By the end of the decade, he released five more digital albums, as well as nearly a dozen 12" EPs. "Umlaut2," a highlight from Dehnert's 2008 split EP with Roman Lindau, was reworked and released as a 12" by Clone in 2009, backed by a Levon Vincent remix. The record became a hit with DJs, and Lautschrift appeared on the label at the end of the year. Dehnert continued releasing material on Fachwerk, as well as his own MD2 and house-centric Colombage imprints, but an increasing number of his records appeared on other labels, such as Deeply Rooted House, Echocord Colour, and Delsin, which issued his full-lengths Framework (2011) and Lichtbedingt (2014). Along with Lindau and labelmate Sascha Rydell, Dehnert contributed to double LP 8 Years Fachwerk in 2015. In 2016, Dehnert appeared on DJ Koze's Pampa Records with the single "How Close to Be," as well as a split 12" with Soulphiction issued by sublabel Hart Tief. Dehnert continued in the abstract vocal-driven direction of "How Close to Be" with Providing Home, his 2017 Fachwerk-released full-length. ~ Paul Simpson, Rovi
