The band Aerial first started out in the last part of the '70s performing under the name Liverpool. Within a short time, the members decided on a name change and so Aerial came into being. Singer, songwriter, bassist, and guitarist Gary O'Connor served as frontman for the group, with artists like bassist and guitarist Brian Miessner, pianist Malcolm Buchanan, and drummer and percussionist Laurie Currie helping out. Aerial released a string of singles between 1978 and 1980. The band's debut album, In the Middle of the Night, hit the market in 1978. It was followed by a sophomore release, Maneuvers, two years later. Harmony, You've Got a Way, Indispensable Thomas Hensible, and Race the Sun are some of the Beatles-like tunes that fans can find on the only two albums Aerial made before hitting splitsville. A year after the release of Maneuvers, O'Connor landed a contract with the major label RCA Records.
