Capitalizing on the high-profile exposure gained from working with Tiller, Vory -- then working under the name King Vory -- debuted with his own mixtape, Overdose, in 2016, which was hosted by Adrian Swish and DJ Radio and featured contributions from Lil Bibby, Zaytoven, AD, Blu, Nick E Beats, Ayo N Keyz, among others. Shortening his name simply to Vory in 2017, he returned with a trio of singles -- "Try," "Do That Shit," and "Hold of Me" -- that further established his melodic, dark-hued sound. In 2018, Vory became more ubiquitous, releasing tracks like the hypnotic "Control" and the fiery "9.22" and featuring on a variety of songs by artists like Reese LaFlare, Justine Skye, Pierre, and Cassow. He also notched some high-profile writing credits with Drake and the Carters, earning a Grammy Award for the latter's Everything Is Love album. A year later, he returned with the SAY EP, featuring the single "Save Me Now."
His profile significantly raised, Vory inked a deal with Meek Mill's upstart Dream Chasers imprint and delivered an eponymous mixtape in late 2020. Finally, in 2022, he made his full-length debut with Lost Souls, which benefitted from some notable guest spots including Kanye West, BLEU, and NAV. Upon release, the album topped the Billboard Heatseekers chart. ~ Timothy Monger, Rovi
