Biography
Musician and artist Titanic Sinclair got his start as a garage rocker but became best known as one of the creative visionaries behind enigmatic social media pop singer Poppy. Born Corey Michael Mixter in Saginaw, Michigan, Sinclair took his talents as director, performance and visual artist, and singer/songwriter to Los Angeles. Influenced by Elliott Smith, Pixies, and Weezer, he released solo efforts Thick Jello (2012) and I Have Teeth (2014) -- as well as the "Trust Fund" and "Fucking on Fire" singles in 2015 -- before focusing on other artists. He worked with the likes of BØRNS, Zella Day, Stepdad, Mars Argo, and Knox Hamilton before partnering with Poppy as her director and producer. In late 2014, they uploaded their debut piece, an enigmatic video of Poppy eating cotton candy. Taking inspiration from Warhol, David Lynch, and Tim Burton, the pair created a steady stream of these unsettling and ambiguous clips. In 2017, Poppy released her debut LP, Poppy.Computer, which Sinclair produced with Ryosuke Sakai. ~ Neil Z. Yeung, Rovi
