Biography
New York-based production duo Take a Daytrip helped craft hits for a wide range of artists, moving from their roots in rap and club music into a more mainstream pop arena as their reputation grew. Marked by deceptively minimal song structures and dark tonalities, production from the duo appeared on standout tracks from Lil Nas X, Big Sean, Juice WRLD, and many others.

Producer/DJs Denzel Baptiste and David Biral met in 2013 while attending school, bonding over their love of the trap and EDM styles that were taking over the clubs around that point. They began working together learning production, putting hours into cultivating their own style. Drawing from an eclectic range of influences and trends, the first productions from Take a Daytrip arrived a few years later in the form of remixes of songs by Handsome Ghost, Dua Lipa, and others. A resumé of production credits began growing in 2016, with work on songs from Raury, Nessly, the Skins, and Treez Lowkey. It was Sheck Wes' 2017 track "Mo Bama" that truly put Take a Daytrip on the map, taking a year to breakthrough but then going viral thanks in part to the tension-building production.

Over the next several years, Baptiste and Biral produced tracks for increasingly higher-profile names. The duo's spacy, sinister instrumentals created the foundations for Juice WRLD's 2018 tracks "Legends" and "Rich and Blind" and rapper YBN Cordae's single "Kung Fu," among many others. In 2019, Take a Daytrip reached more listeners than ever, producing two tracks for Lil Nas X, including his hit "Panini," as well as tracks for Big Sean, G-Eazy, Lil West, Kevin Gates, and more. In November 2019, the duo released the single "Lighthouse," a dark, bass-heavy tune featuring verses from Icecoldbishop, Rico Nasty, and slowthai. ~ Fred Thomas, Rovi
