Cyva
Biography
Sister of Cynara, Cybele, and Cylene (of the Quarteto em Cy, she being the only one to have participated in all of the group's formations), Cyva performed as a singer and actress in the show A Hora da Criança on the Rádio Sociedade da Bahia (Salvador), from 1950 to 1957. Graduating with a degree in literature, she worked as a teacher in Salvador for two years before moving to Rio de Janeiro, where she continued to teach. In 1962 Cyva started as an amateur singer on Renato Murce's #Papel Carbono show, forming a duo with her sister Cybele in the same year. In 1963 she recorded with her sisters a soundtrack written by Pixinguinha and Vinícius de Moraes for the film #Sol Sobre a Lama (Alex Viany). Along with her activities in the Quarteto, she was the musical director of the Brazilian versions of several films by Walt Disney. She also wrote the musical #Mar de Janeiro (1987), which had a soundtrack by Sivuca and Paulinho Tapajós. ~ Alvaro Neder, Rovi
