Ferdinando Bertoni
August 15, 1725 - December 1, 1813 (age 88)
Biography
Bertoni was an Italian composer of opera, with an occasional dramatic work, incidental music, numerous motets and some oratorios. Although not Venetian he served the court for over 50 years and was considered by the populace (and in his own mind's eye) to be Venetian. Bertoni's music was performed not only before the Italian public but also before the courts of England, Germany and France. His most important opera was probably "Orfeo ed Euridice" which was performed in Italy and Germany and conducted by Bertoni in London. The most noted pupil of this prolific composer was Mayr. ~ Keith Johnson, Rovi
