So Below
Biography
So Below is the nocturnal electropop project of New Zealand's Madeline North. Featuring her ethereal processed vocals and spare but club-friendly electronic beats, So Below's debut single, "Drift," appeared in 2015, with an eponymous debut EP following in 2016.
The Auckland-based North collaborated with fellow New Zealanders Aaron Short (the Naked and Famous), Leroy Clampitt, and Sam McCarthy to write material for her first EP, including its 2015 lead single, "Drift." The song garnered tens of thousands of streams before appearing on the four-track So Below in March 2016. Later that year, Taste Nasa's remix of "Drift" drew even more attention to the song. Released in March 2018, So Below's follow-up EP, II, included the track "Visions," which was co-written with McCarthy and Chelsea Jade. She followed the EP with a European tour in support of Now, Now, whose "SGL" she had covered the previous year. ~ Marcy Donelson, Rovi
