Pop-oriented contemporary R&B vocalist Chanel Sosa filled numerous background and featured roles prior to releasing her debut album in 2018. The Brooklyn native starting developing her talent as a youngster in church and at school performances. Her career got off the ground in 2007, after she had studied liberal modern arts at LaGuardia Community College, with a session credit on Gordon Chambers' Love Stories. Sosa then popped up on several recordings -- sometimes listed as Chanel Nicole -- headlined primarily by rappers, most notably Busta Rhymes ("Doin It Again"), Wu-Tang Clan ("Preacher's Daughter," "Never Let Go"), Mike Smith ("Alibi"), and Masta Killa ("Flex with Me"). After a decade in the background, she released B*tch in Me through Razor Sharp, the label operated by Smith, RZA, and King Tech.
