New York rapper David Bars lives up to his name, concentrating on intricate, determined wordplay and meaningful lyrics. He began self-releasing mixtapes in the early 2010s and continued honing his skills, gradually earning the attention of the legendary D.I.T.C. crew. He collaborated with Showbiz on 2019's Bars Beats, worked with DJ Premier and Fat Joe on the same year's The Bar Code, and released Gunz x Bars with Cory Gunz in 2022.

Initially known as D Bars, the rapper released his debut mixtape, The Wait Is Ova, in 2011. Further mixtapes arrived, and Bars gained exposure through appearances on battle rap channels like Cypher City TV. He became affiliated with D.I.T.C. in 2016, delivering the final verse of "Gotta Be Classic" from the album D.I.T.C. Studios. The self-released Bars Over Bullshit EP appeared in 2018. Bars Beats, a collaboration with Showbiz, was released by D.I.T.C. in 2019, followed by The Bar Code EP, with production by DJ Premier, Showbiz, and Buckwild as well as a Fat Joe feature. B=MC2, a collaboration with producer Mono En Stereo, appeared in 2021. Unorthodox, with Passportgift and Parks, followed in 2022.
