Nick Lowe & His Cowboy Outfit
formed
January 1, 1983 - January 1, 1986 (age 3)
Biography
Just as he was getting his solo sea legs in 1981, Nick Lowe formed a supporting group called the Chaps featuring Ducks Deluxe/Rumour guitarist Martin Belmont, Ace keyboardist Paul Carrack, and drummer Bobby Irwin. This outfit was swiftly renamed Noise to Go and every member played on Lowe's 1982 album Nick the Knife, which was credited to Lowe alone. All of the musicians also appeared on 1983's The Abominable Showman, which was also a Lowe solo affair, but in the following year, Lowe rechristened this group Nick Lowe His Cowboy Outfit, releasing an album of the same name in May 1984. Nick Lowe His Cowboy Outfit stuck together through 1985's The Rose of England before officially splitting. Despite the disbandment, all of the musicians in the Cowboy Outfit appeared on Lowe's 1988 album Pinker and Prouder Than Previous. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, Rovi
