A secondary alias of Kieran Hebden, aka Four Tet, Percussions debuted in 2011 with a frictional dancefloor cut on Fabriclive 59, selected and mixed by its maker. The following year, Hebden started issuing 12"-only Percussions releases through his TEXT label. By the end of 2014, there was a trio of them, with each side containing highly detailed house and techno tracks that could also be enjoyed in isolation, away from clubs. Hebden compiled those tracks, bundled them with five new productions, and released the digital download-only set 2011 Until 2014 in early 2015.
