Along with older sisters Brenda and Shirley, Valorie Jones was one of the Jones Girls. The Detroit-based siblings remain known most for their Philadelphia International recordings, including four albums and the Top 40 hit "You Gonna Make Me Love Somebody Else" (1979), and they also provided background vocals for numerous artists throughout the 1970s and '80s. In addition to her role in the group, Valorie co-wrote a handful of songs with either Shirley or both of her sisters, including Norman Connors' "Handle Me Gently" (which also featured the trio as background vocalists) and Bloodstone's charting single "My Love Grows Stronger."
