Biography
Kenneth Woods is an American conductor, cellist, author, blogger, and composer. He has become prominent as a conductor, performing with the National Symphony Orchestra, the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic, the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, the Budapest Festival Orchestra, the Royal Northern Sinfonia, and the English Chamber Orchestra. Woods was named as principal guest conductor of the Orchestra of the Swan in 2010, and with this group he recorded the first complete set of the symphonies of Hans Gál. In 2013, Woods became artistic director and principal conductor of the English Symphony Orchestra, and in 2015 he was made the second artistic director of the Colorado MahlerFest, which received the gold medal of the International Gustav Mahler Society. As a chamber musician, Woods has performed in the string trio Ensemble Epomeo, and appeared in concert with soloists from major orchestras.
