Danielle Simone Bradbery was born July 23, 1996 in League City, Texas and raised in Cyprus, both located in Greater Houston. Although she claimed she had never sung in front of a big crowd before, mostly just singing in front of a mirror in her bedroom with a hair brush in hand, she cleared blind auditions and became a contestant on the fourth season of the reality competition show The Voice in the first half of 2013. One of her songs during the Top Ten playoff round, a rendition of "Heads Carolina, Tails California," performed well on streaming sites and ended up cracking the Billboard Hot 100. Subsequently, a download-only album of her performances on the show came out that July, and in November of the same year, Big Machine released her self-titled studio album. Featuring "The Heart of Dixie," which hit number 16 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart, the full-length reached number five on the corresponding album chart. Bradbery then headed out on tour as the supporting act for Hunter Hayes.
In 2015, she toured with Miranda Lambert, Brett Eldredge, and Thomas Rhett and released "Friend Zone," which was intended to be the first single from a second album, but the record never materialized. The single "Sway" eventually appeared on BMLG Records in June 2017 and landed in the country Top 40. In December, it was included on the full-length I Don't Believe We've Met, which went to number six on the country chart. That year, she also appeared on an episode of the TV musical drama Nashville.
In May 2020, Bradbery was featured alongside Zac Brown on the Diplo track "Hometown," and a few months later, she teamed up with Thomas Rhett for the hit duet "Goodbye Summer." Early in 2021, the Kurt collaboration "Never Have I Ever (Yo Nunca He…)" saw her singing in Spanish for the first time. "Stop Draggin' Your Boots" and "Break My Heart Again" arrived in 2021 and 2022, respectively, both of which appeared on the compilation In Between: The Collection. ~ Steve Leggett & Marcy Donelson, Rovi
