Biography
Dougie Wright was a drummer during the British beat boom of the late 1950's and early 1960's. It was his work with the Bill Marsden Band in Leeds that brought him into contact with the band's saxman Jimmy Stead. When Stead joined the John Barry Seven in 1958, he recommended Wright as a successor to the group's original drummer, Ken Golder. Wright lasted with the group until October of 1962, after which he joined the Ted Taylor Four, and later became a session drummer. In the 1970's he was back playing jazz full-time, in the Eddie Thompson Trio and later with the Harry Stoneham's Band. As of the 1990's, he was living in Leicester and teaching music at the college level. ~ Bruce Eder, Rovi
