Biography
Ester Brinkmann is the side project of minimal techno/experimental producer Thomas Brinkmann. Adopting his sister's name for the project, Brinkmann made his debut as Ester with Totes Rennen on the Suppose imprint in 1998. A lengthy affair of minimal techno using philosophers' texts as vocals, Brinkmann followed it up with Weiße Nächte a year later; it was a decidedly more scaled-down, ambient affair. Brinkmann also used this alter ego for his contribution to the award-winning 20 to 2000 series on the German label Raster-Noton. The project ceased in 2002 with a limited-edition single on Suppose. Brinkmann has stated in interviews that there are no current plans to revive the side project. ~ Rob Theakston, Rovi
