Biography
Magnetic Morning are a duo comprised of Sam Fogarino (drums) of Interpol and Adam Franklin (guitar and vocals) of Swervedriver and Toshack Highway. The two met in early 2006 in New York City while out to dinner with mutual friend Jack Rabid from indie magazine The Big Takeover, and started collaborating in the winter of 2006-2007, originally calling themselves the Setting Suns. They recorded their debut EP of cold, atmospheric rock at Electric Lady Studios in New York, and released the self-titled set digitally on November 17, 2007, under the aforementioned moniker. In January of 2008, the band became aware of another local group with a similar name -- Setting Sun -- so in order to avoid confusion, they decided to change their name to Magnetic Morning after a Toshack Highway EP. With only one show (at New York City's Mercury Lounge) under their belts, and still without a physical release of their album, they hooked up with Santa Monica, California-based DH Records to put out their debut just in time for Record Store Day on April 19, 2008. The pair made plans to record a full-length album in between Interpol shows and the Swervedriver reunion tour. ~ Corey Kahn, Rovi
