Heinrich Baermann
from Potsdam, Germany
February 14, 1784 - June 11, 1847 (age 63)
Biography
Herr Baermann was a clarinettist and composer who studied with Beer and Tausch. The appointment he obtained at Munich lasted until his death. His playing ability sold the merit of Weber's work and won him acclaim in London where he was able to perform his own compositions. Baermann was also instrumental in selling the merits of the clarinet as he played smoothly and dynamically without the invariable "squeak" of amateurs. Friends and collagues included Weber, Mendelssohn and Meyerbeer all who spoke highly of Baermann's virtuosity. ~ Keith Johnson, Rovi
