Biography
Colombian Juan Humberto Rois, aka Juancho, started playing accordion at a very young age, performing Alfredo Gutiérrez' songs, joining a local festival called Cuna de Compositores (Composers Cradle) in 1977, and coming in first place after participating in Festival del Fique. The opportunity to make his first record came after teaming up with Juan Piña. Juancho joined Diómedes Díaz soon after and recorded a successful album called La Locura. Following that album, he made La Fuetera with Elías Rosado. After working with Raúl Martínez, Juan Humberto Rois achieved a Gongo de Oro award for Best Vallenato Act, later creating a new style by mixing Colombian folklore and Dominican merengue. The talented musician passed away in 1994 after an airplane crash. ~ Drago Bonacich, Rovi
