Biography
Alongside Artful Dodger and M.J. Cole, British production duo Shanks Bigfoot were instrumental in helping the late-'90s two-step garage sound break through to the mainstream. Originally recording under the guise of Doolally, Steven Meade and Danny Langsman scored one of the genre's first chart hits with Straight from the Heart in 1998, but achieved their biggest success as Shanks Bigfoot, with the number one single Sweet Like Chocolate. Featuring vocals from Sharon Woolf, it was the ninth best-selling track of 1999 and was nominated for both Brit and Ivor Novello awards. After winning the Best British Dance Act at the MOBOS, they signed a deal with Zomba Records and released their second single, Sing-A-Long (number 12) featuring a then-unknown Terri Walker. Their full-length debut, Swings and Roundabouts, failed to chart, with the pair's pop-oriented sound struggling to fit in with the darker, underground elements of garage scene newcomers So Solid Crew, and besides their contribution to the 2000 Ministry of Sound compilation, Ayia Napa: The Album, the pair haven't released any material since. ~ Jon O'Brien, Rovi
