Flint played trumpet in middle school, and taught himself to play several other instruments and engineer while in high school. After making music by himself and playing in a few groups, he started the band Flint Eastwood during his senior year of high school, when his family was living in Arkansas. Combining atmospheric rock with hip-hop, the group released an EP and a full-length, and opened for artists like Big K.R.I.T. and Nappy Roots. Following the band's breakup, Flint began using the name Black Party. He started producing music for longtime friend Kari Faux. Their song "No Small Talk" caught the attention of Childish Gambino, who remixed it and included it on his 2014 mixtape STN MTN. He released his own mixtape, Prototype, showcasing his skills as a producer and rapper.
Flint moved to Los Angeles, and altered his moniker to bLAck pARty, with the capital letters signifying his current and previous locations. He contributed to Childish Gambino's 2016 album Awaken, My Love! and executive-produced Kari Faux's Lost en Los Angeles. Faux also made an appearance on bLAck pARty's nine-song release Mango, self-described as "tropical funk" by its creator. Childish Gambino signed bLAck pARty to his RCA-distributed Wolf + Rothstein label, and the studio album Endless Summer appeared in 2019. Flint made appearances on albums by Gavin Turek and Quadry in 2021. The following year, bLAck pARty released the full-length Hummingbird, which featured collaborations with Childish Gambino ("I Love You More Than You Know"), Kari Faux ("BOMB"), Saba ("KEMET"), and others. ~ Paul Simpson, Rovi
