Biography
Scottish DJ/producer Sam Gellaitry crafts forward-thinking, genre-bending electronic music that is as evocative and experimental as it is club-ready. When he was still a teenager, he shifted his focus from studies to music, releasing his official debut, Escapism, in 2015. He continued the series with two more installments before releasing his first full-length, Viewfinder, Vol. 1, in 2019. In 2021, he issued the EP IV, home to the hit track "Duo."
A native of Stirling, Gellaitry first began making music in his teens after his older brother introduced him to a computer-based production application. With his family's blessing, he left school at age 16 to focus on music. By the time he was 18, he had gained enough attention for electronic label and collective Soulection to release his Short Stories EP in 2015. That same year, he also issued the Escapism EP on XL Recordings. Two more EPs, Escapism II and Escapism III, appeared in 2016 and 2017, respectively. He closed the decade with his first LP, Viewfinder, Vol. 1.: PHOSPHENE.
Riding his rising exposure on the dance scene, Gellaitry continued his EP series with 2021's IV. ~ Matt Collar, Rovi
