Having collaborated on and off since grade school, Miller and Harwood formed Lewis Del Mar in 2013 after relocating to Rockaway Beach, and named the project after their fathers (both named Lewis) and their coastal locale. Melodic and percussion-driven, and incorporating samples and manipulated sound, their debut single, "Loud(y)," landed on multiple streaming-site charts in 2015. Sony Music released their four-track debut, titled EP, in early 2016. By the middle of the year, "Loud(y)" had landed on the Billboard Alternative Airplay chart, and another song from the EP, "Malt Liquor," put them back on the streaming charts. Their full-length debut, Lewis Del Mar, arrived in October 2016 and reached number 19 on Billboard's Heatseekers Albums chart with the help of several more popular tracks, including "Wave(s)" and "Painting (Masterpiece)." The duo spent the next two years touring internationally in support of the release and making appearances at major American festivals like Austin City Limits and Lollapalooza.
After moving to the Fader Label, Lewis Del Mar issued "The Ceiling" in May of 2020 as the driving lead single from their sophomore album, that August's August. ~ Marcy Donelson, Rovi
