A collaboration between Jay Som's Melina Duterte and Palehound's Ellen Kempner, Bachelor both alternates and combines the intimate grunge associated with Kempner and the woozy indie pop of Duterte. They released their debut album, Doomin' Sun, in 2021.

The friends wrote and recorded most of the material for their first album in Topanga, California in a span of two weeks during January 2020. Some of the guests who stopped by and contributed performances were Big Thief's Buck Meek and James Krivchenia, and Duterte's partner, Annie Truscott (Chastity Belt, Routine).
