One of two German heavy metal bands operating under the Dark Fortress name during the 1990s, this quartet from the town of Riedstadt played rather traditional melodic metal, versus their competitors' extreme black metal. Ultimately the less successful of the two, having managed but one album (2000's largely overlooked Light and Darkness) during their lifespan, bandmembers Torsten Thassilo Herbert (vocals/bass), Thorsten Brand (guitar), and Matthias Bludau (guitar) threw in the towel in 2001 and launched a new band named Dragonsfire, while drummer Marcus Buhl vanished into obscurity. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia, Rovi
