One of the most important proponents of rural rock, Ruy Maurity had hits with Serafim e Seus Filhos and Nem Ouro Nem Prata (both with Zé Jorge). Several of his works also appeared in the Globo Network soap operas #Fogo Sobre Terra, #Dona Xepa, and #A Escalada, as well as in Manchete Network's #Ana Raio e Zé Trovão (Estradas do Interior). Son of the first violinist of the Orquestra Sinfônica do Teatro Municipal Iolanda Maurity Santos and Antônio Adolfo's brother, Maurity taught himself violão (acoustic guitar).
