Silicon is an electronic-oriented solo project by New Zealand-based musician and producer Kody Nielson. Nielson first came to prominence along with his brother Ruban (Unknown Mortal Orchestra) as part of experimental guitar band the Mint Chicks in the early and mid-2000s, then later with his psych combo Opossum. Seeking a new direction for his solo material, the Auckland native began developing the dark retro-futurist electro-pop that would eventually become Silicon.
