Biography
TIP was the original and recurring alias of platinum-selling, Grammy-winning rapper Clifford Harris, aka T.I. When the Atlanta-based artist was signed to LaFace in 1999, he dropped the last letter of his performing name out of deference to the elder Q-Tip, who was on the roster of parent label Arista as a solo act. Though Harris officially went by T.I., he continually referred to himself as TIP in his recordings, and in 2015, he officially reverted to that name for Da' Nic, an independently released EP that was something of a throwback to his earliest pre-fame output. The Dime Trap, the rapper's tenth proper album, also came out as a TIP release that year. ~ Andy Kellman, Rovi
