Stern grew up in Haifa, Israel and began to MC as part of a dancehall crew called Easy Rider, heavily inspired by Jamaican vocalists such as Sister Nancy and Lady Ann. In 2011, she attended a party in Tel Aviv, at which Martin happened to be playing an impromptu set. She asked him to give her the mike, and he was immediately floored by her performance. The following day, they recorded a song called "Diss Mi Army," which was released as the B-side of a 2012 single on Martin's Acid Ragga imprint. Stern moved to London that year, and began touring with Martin frequently. She also sang on an additional Acid Ragga 7", as well as the Bug's 2014 full-length, Angels Devils.
After relocating to Berlin, Miss Red released her debut mixtape, Murder, as a free download in late 2015. Produced by Martin, the release included additional rhythms by Andy Stott, Mark Pritchard, Evian Christ, and others. Miss Red made additional appearances on releases by Gaika (2016's Security and two Warp-issued Spectacular Empire 10"s in 2017), Ishan Sound ("A Wa Yu Want"), Trilion (Ain't No Future with No Past), and others. London record shop Sounds of the Universe released Miss Red's 2017 12" Under Attack, which included two additional tracks produced by Martin. Stern then appeared on Dawn, the 2018 full-length by Japan's Silent Poets. Miss Red's debut full-length, K.O., appeared later in the year, again produced by Martin and issued through his Pressure imprint. ~ Paul Simpson, Rovi
