Biography
Tone-Tone is a rapper from Detroit who debuted in 2004 and experienced some local success with singles such as I Ain't Playin' Witcha and What Up Doe. Born Antonio Henderson in 1984 in Detroit, MI, he attended Finney High School and began rapping at age nine. At age 18 he made his full-length album debut with Skoolz in Session (2004). Released on the local independent label Wide Open Records, Skoolz in Session spawned the local hit single I Ain't Playin' Witcha, which was given lots of radio airplay in Detroit. Tone-Tone was subsequently signed to a recording contract with Sho'nuff Records, the label of Southern rap producer Jazze Pha, and released a series of mixtapes on his own label, New Skool Entertainment: Strictly fo da Streetz (2005), Ride with Cha Boy (2006), and Motivation for da New Generation (2007). Nothing came of the association with Jazze Pha, however, and Tone-Tone returned to Wide Open Records for the release of his second album, D-Boy Fresh (2007), which features the single Luv da Way She Doin' It. ~ Jason Birchmeier, Rovi
