Like many a budding singer/songwriter, English folksinger James Raynard came to the genre through the songs of Bob Dylan. The self-taught guitarist studied folklore at Sheffield University and took up the fiddle, eventually developing a relationship with British folk legend Martin Carthy. He began playing and singing at festivals, where he caught the ears of One Little Indian's folk imprint, Unearthed.
