Biography
One of the most important playwrights of his time, Joraci Camargo wrote lyrics for successful songs like "Favela," "Mulata Brasileira," "Guacira" and "Leilão" (with Hekel Tavares), "Mamãe Baiana" (with Xerém), and the choro "Quem é?" (with Custódio Mesquita). At 14, Camargo started to work as an actor at the Clube 24 de Maio. His first musical revue was #Me Leva, Meu Bem (with Pacheco Fialho). After several revues, he dedicated himself to comedy, under pseudonyms Ícaro and João Moreno. In 1932, his comedy #Deus Lhe Pague (staged with success until today) brought him fame and success.
