Biography
Willie Myette is a Providence, RI-based pianist and jazz educator. He graduated from Boston's Berklee College of Music in 1994 and went on to study privately with pianist Fred Hersch. His own teaching experiences during this time led him to found JazzKids, a jazz education program geared toward children. He crafted a curriculum for the program via two textbooks, -First Adventures in Jazz and -More Adventures in Jazz. These books feature original compositions (named after Myette's students) which serve to familiarize kids with concepts such as ear training and improvisation.

In addition to his teaching activities, Myette performs regularly with the Willie Myette Trio, featuring Mark Carlsen on bass and Jack Menna on drums. Myette's accessible, modern style is well-showcased on the trio's 1997 debut This Is Jazz. ~ David R. Adler, Rovi
